Words Vs Memories

I do really like words, photos, videos. Things that I can look back on, kind of like this blog. I really enjoy printing out photos and having something physical, that being said I dont reminisce too often, but sometimes it is good. Same with photos and videos, I dont post often but I try to take a ton of pictures and videos of my kids. I try to collect older photos and videos of my family and friends.

And I was trying to figure out why, I have memories of most things, why do I need photos? And I talked to my 95 year old Grandma last week and I realize that memory is pretty fallible, and my memory especially is fallible, I am terrible at memorizing things. So it is super nice to have this blog to look back on my thoughts in the past, where I was 10 years ago, what was I thinking? What was I doing creatively?

Even when my oldest son was born I dont really remember anymore. It has been four years and I only kind of remember what happened, I remember being really really afraid when my wife got a C-section instead of a natural birth. I remember her doing ball exercises trying to get the baby out. I remember running out and getting my wife Taco Bell. Is that right? Was it Taco Bell, that might be a fake memory. I do remember our hospital room overlooked a Taco Bell.

So honestly photos are nice for that time, I can see some pictures of our tiny baby, his wild looking face and body.

And that is kind of how I view words, photos, and videos. I try not to post them, I sometimes share them with friends and family, but they are mostly for me to remember my life because my memory is fallible.

And one more thing, I do like history a lot, and the only reason I get a glimpse into really old history, Roman, Greek, Chinese, Japanese history is because that people wrote it down. History is fun, record keeping is fun, remembering what the birth of my first son is fun.
