Stomach Sickness

2025-12-03

Today’s blog is more for me than it is for you. I guess I see this as kind of a journal, one that is slightly public.

Today both Sneha and I were sick with upset stomachs, I will spare you the details. And one thing that would be nice is if we could figure out why or how we got sick. Was it the non-alcoholic cocktail we had that may or may not have ice? It was at a nice restaurant but still, perhaps the water was unfiltered. Was it the coconut we ate of the street? The coconut itself is untainted but the knife that was used for cutting perhaps was not. Was it the shrimp ceviche we had? It was also from a nice restaurant but perhaps it was prepared with unfiltered water.

I think (hope) that I am past the worst of the sickness, today was rough and we spent much of the day in bed. And aside from stomach pain the main thought in my head was ‘I am thankful our kids aren’t here’. If either of our kids got sick it would have been miserable, instantly, no question. But even if both of our kids were healthy and we were sick it would have been quite a challenge. Our oldest would want to go out and be entertained, our youngest would crawl around the airbnb and touch things, one of us would have to follow him around and prevent him from destroying things. And it would be more stressful and more tiring, we would have to make sure they are able to eat things, they are well and entertained.

But because we are children free for this trip we just slept off the stomach pain, for about 3 hours during the day we slept. I tossed and turned in pain, but at least I did so without children. So far we are feeling better, knock on wood, and hopefully tomorrow we have a more eventful day.
