Costco Socks

I usually wear black socks. I like the color because they go with casual clothes and also go with formal clothes. I think a lot of people have every days socks and then dress socks. I tried to hack the system and have one type of sock which looks pretty good in either case.

And for a long time this worked really well. I would go to Costco and buy a set of black socks, and then use them. I tried to buy the same brand every time but it is hard for black socks. I have some Nike, some Underarmor, and some other ones. They don’t really mix and match and I am prone to losing socks. So I also have a bunch of unmatched socks, still not a deal breaker but kind of annoying. And one more thing, they do wear down at the ball of my foot quite quickly, I think some brands are better than other but still.

The straw that finally broke the camel’s back, which is a wild saying, is that I tried to white socks at Costco. I think I saw someone online rave about the white ones and I bought a pack. And what I realize is that the white socks are thicker and more comfortable. I think they will last longer and not wear out as quickly as the black socks. I think they are super thick cotton. Also they are always available at Costco, so I wont have more than one unmatched socks.

So I am converted, I think I will buy white socks at Costco and slowly phase out my black socks as they wear down. So my sock draw will become: thick wool socks for cold weather, white cotton socks, and dress socks.

The only downside is that I wont be able to wear my casual socks with dress wear, but I think that is a sacrifice I am willing to make.
