Traveling With Kids

2025-07-03

I am sitting in the car right now, running the A/C, probably destroying the environment, hammering this out on my phone. But the baby is sleeping in the car and we want him to have a good nap. When he gets up I will change his diaper, feed him, and then help him play.

I feel this is representative of tracking with kids, doing a lot of waiting and inefficient tasks to take care of children. For both our oldest and youngest we need to cater to their nap schedule and what not.

But I also want to add that this trip was much better than our previous trip to Hawaii. The baby is eating and sleeping better and so are we. Not perfect but better.

Also our oldest is having a great time. He went to Disneyland, played with water rides, saw Mickey Mouse, literally cried when we stopped going on this one ride, at a ton of sweets, and got to play every day.

I think our family is at a tipping point to where we, as a whole, are starting to enjoy vacations with all of their bumps and imperfections. I hope that this trend continues.
