Forgetfulness

I am terrible forgetful. I wish it wasn’t true but it has been since I was a kid. I remember frequently leaving my backpack places and my mom having to drive 30 minutes out of her way to pick it up. I am sorry mom. Even with that I started developing systems to forget things less. I make sure that my left pocket contains my keys and my right pocket contains my phone and wallet. When leaving the house I try to think about anything I am forgetting.
But given all of those things I am still really forgetful. I was tasked with packing for this short trip and I failed miserably. The things I forgot:
- More shorts for the baby (I did not pack enough)
- A sleeve of diapers
- Some charging cables
- My own underwear
And to be frank this is pretty pathetic. Thankfully we are nearby stuff and money can fix my mistake, but it is pretty bad. Some things I can do without, the charging cables, and the rest we will buy. And I have some excuse, I was really busy at work and distracted while packing, but it is just an excuse. I need to do better. And so with that I will continue to try to get a little better and not forget things. I think my brain has its limitations, I will never be as good as my wife at remembering things, but I know that I can be incrementally better. So I will try to be less distracted while packing next time and hopefully I can do better.
