The Muffin Company - 1

I really like start ups, I usually work at smaller size companies, I have twice tried to found a start up. I am not sure why but the idea of making something novel and having control is really interesting to me. Most start ups fail ( https://www.makerstations.io/startup-failure-rate-statistics/ ) and so I am often finding new jobs and all of the start ups i have founded have failed for sure.
I think most start goes go through this kind of growth curve ( https://cdn.prod.website-files.com/5e9d7e35a92e9283f989aa33/653c0b675cf2a031e702bfa8_0*4S1o6ytSfDCwbloK.png ) and I wanted to kind of talk about that and what my experiences have been and perhaps what they could be if I found a successful start up.
But I dont really want to talk about tech companies, or SAAS (software as a service), because that is a bit boring even to me. I would rather think about a different company so I decided to talk about a muffin company, perhaps it is called ‘The Muffin Company’ because I love baking and because it is better to talk about muffins than about software.
So at the beginning of my pretend start up journey I find myself looking around and thinking, my neighborhood could use a muffin shop, there are some good breakfast places around here but I can’t get a good muffin. Or maybe I think, I am really passionate about muffins and even though there are good muffin shops, I want to make an ever better one. Or I think, I want to revolutionize muffins, I am going to make muffin 2.0. Anyway no matter the reason, I as the founder of ‘The Muffin Company’ go to a lawyer and talk to them about starting some kind of company so that the liability of the company isn’t on me. For this exercise lets say i start a deleware c corp, this is the only company type i know much about. For a real muffin shop i am not sure what type of company you would want to open, the type has a bunch of tax implications.
If I didn’t start a company but instead just opened a business, I think if someone ate a rotten muffin and the sued me, without the protection of a company the person could come after my personal assets, my house, my car, etc. So I think that is one of the main reasons for starting a company with a lawyer (I assume there are others, I am no law expert.)
And here my pretend story begins, I as the founder of ‘The Muffin Company’.
